Dayparting
Scheduling different content to play at different times of day on the same screen.
Also written: day-parting, day parting
Dayparting is how one screen shows a breakfast menu at nine and a lunch menu at noon without anyone touching it. The content is scheduled against a clock rather than queued in a single loop.
Most signage platforms support it, so the thing to test is what happens at the boundary. A player that has lost its network connection still needs to switch at eleven, which means the schedule has to live on the player rather than be pushed from the server at the moment of the change.
Watch for time zones too. An estate spanning several of them will either switch at local time or all at once, and vendors differ on which they do by default.
