Carousel is deliberate about not making hardware: it describes itself as building content management software designed to work with the best media player technologies, and supports BrightSign, Apple TV, the Amazon Signage Stick and the smart-display lines from Samsung, LG, Sony and Philips. The more interesting idea is what it calls Express Players, lightweight deployments that push signage content to tablets, websites, screensavers and Slack, so the same channel reaches people who are not near a screen. Roles carry permissions per zone, and content passes an approval step before it reaches a player.
