Samsung OHD-X 55-inch

3,500 nits and IP56, for glass facing the street.

Samsung's own specification table gives the set dimensions as "1260.6 x 731.4 x 69.0 inch" and the set weight as 36.7 lb. Both units are plainly wrong for a 55-inch outdoor panel, so neither figure is recorded here. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are listed as external rather than built in, so neither is recorded as a feature. The 4,000 nit figure is a peak; the 3,500 recorded is the typical brightness. How entries are researched.

An outdoor panel, and the specification reads like one: 3,500 nits typical with a 4,000 nit peak, IP56 sealing, an operating range starting at -30°C and an auto-brightness sensor so it is not running at full output at midnight. Tizen runs on a chip inside it, so it needs no player. The surprise on the datasheet is the resolution — 1366 x 768 on a 55-inch panel, which is a deliberate trade rather than an oversight: an outdoor screen is read from across a street or a forecourt, where brightness and sealing decide whether the content is visible at all and pixel density does not. Optional protective glass, HDBaseT and RS232 in and out put it in the professional install category rather than the retail one, and it draws 580 W doing it.
