IAdea XMP-8552
A rugged Android player rated from -20°C, powered over Ethernet.
- 4K
- PoE
Power over Ethernet and Wi-Fi are on the XMP-8552 only. The XMP-8550 shares everything else on this page and has neither. How entries are researched.
An Android player in an aluminium case, rated from -20°C to 50°C and tested against railway shock and vibration standards, which is a different class of claim from the 0°C floor most signage boxes state. That range is what puts it in an unheated transport shelter or an outdoor enclosure rather than a lobby. It drives one screen at 4K over HDMI 2.0, takes power over Ethernet, supports a USB touchscreen for wayfinding and self-service kiosks, and swaps its internal storage for a microSD card. A watchdog timer restarts it when the playback application stops, and IAdea's own StrongCache keeps content playing when the network is unreachable. The plainer XMP-8550 is the same player without the radio and without PoE.
