ChromeOS earns its place in signage through management rather than playback. An organisation already running Chrome Enterprise has a device policy, a remote wipe, an enrolment process and an audit trail, and a screen enrolled the same way inherits all of it. For an IT department that has to sign off on hundreds of unattended devices on its own network, that is worth more than any feature on the CMS side.
Kiosk mode is the mechanism: the device boots straight into one app with no desktop, no other tabs and no way out without a policy change. Most signage platforms that support ChromeOS ship exactly that, a kiosk app pushed from the Admin console.
The limitation to plan for is device longevity. A ChromeOS device stops receiving updates on a published date, and an unsupported device on a corporate network becomes an IT problem long before it becomes a signage one. Check that date before buying, not after.
