Player platform
Signage platforms that run on the chip inside a Samsung commercial display, with no player behind the screen.

Tizen is Samsung’s own operating system, and on a commercial Samsung panel it runs the signage software directly. There is no player, no second power supply and nothing visible behind the screen, which is why it wins in retail fit-outs and anywhere the installation has to look like furniture rather than equipment.
What you give up is portability. The panel decides what can run on it, the app has to be certified by Samsung, and platform updates arrive on Samsung’s schedule rather than your software vendor’s. If you change CMS later, the new one has to have done that certification too — and if it has not, the screen cannot come with you without adding the player you avoided buying.
The practical check before standardising is which Tizen version a panel ships and how long it will be supported, because a certified app targets a version rather than the brand.
