Raspberry Pi 5
The single-board computer most open source signage software targets first.
- 4K
Raspberry Pi sells through approved resellers, and the product page names a price only for the 16 GB variant. The smaller memory options cost substantially less; check a reseller for the configuration you want. How entries are researched.
A general-purpose single-board computer that has become the default target for open source signage players, which is why so many CMS vendors ship a Raspberry Pi image before any other. It drives two 4K screens at 60 Hz from a board the size of a card, boots from a microSD card or an M.2 SSD over PCIe, and takes power over Ethernet with an add-on HAT. Nothing about it is built for signage in particular: there is no sealed enclosure, no locking connector and no commercial warranty, and the vendor recommends active cooling under load. What it does have is a stated production run to at least January 2036, which is a longer commitment than most purpose-built players carry.

Names the dual 4Kp60 HDMI output, the BCM2712 processor, the memory variants, PoE+ support via a separate HAT, the 40-pin GPIO header, the PCIe interface and the $305 price for the 16 GB board. PoE+ needs a separate HAT, so it is described in the summary rather than recorded as a feature of the board as shipped.
