Player platform
Signage platforms with an Android player, covering sticks, boxes and Android-based displays.

Android is the default player platform for the category. It covers cheap HDMI sticks, purpose-built signage boxes and a large number of commercial displays with Android built into the panel, which means one player build reaches a lot of different hardware.
The catch is that “Android” spans a decade of versions and a lot of vendor customisation. A player certified on a signage-grade box may behave differently on a consumer TV stick, particularly around waking the display and surviving a power cut.
Ask any vendor which Android versions they currently test against, not which they claim to support.
