Open source digital signage software

Signage platforms published under an open licence, with the repository and licence for each.

10 entries

Open source signage software removes the per-screen licence from the budget and replaces it with your own time. Someone has to run the CMS, keep it patched and be there when a player stops checking in. Where that person already exists, the saving is real and it scales with every screen you add.

The other reason people land here is control over the data. A self-run CMS keeps playback logs and screen locations inside your own network, which matters in environments where an external vendor holding that information needs a conversation with legal first.

Check the licence before committing. Several projects on this list use the AGPL, which places obligations on you if you offer the software onward as a service.
